Learn how 'Tracking Link Append' works

On the Brand, Offer, and Creative level, in addition to the “Destination Link,” there is an ability to utilize a “Destination link Append.” This is used to set a dynamic link structure once and have it applied to all links in the hierarchy.

This means if you have a set destination link variable structure that does not change, you can set the query parameters once and they will always get added to the links, following a hierarchy structure Brand > Offer > Creative

Example:

Let’s say you have many different link destinations for a single brand

Once you’ve determined your setup and established how the links must be structured, let’s assume each of those links also need additional variables passed in order to track correctly

Rather than setting those variables (which do not change) on every creative, you can assign them to an Offer, or Brand level once using “Destination Link Append” and have them automatically append to all creatives.

Using this example, it would make sense to use the following on a Brand level:

Using this example, you will not need to enter those variables in each creative, they will be automatically applied.

Important notes:

  • This is an optional feature and does not have to be utilized anywhere in the hierarchy, unlike destination links.

  • “Appends” follow the same override hierarchy as destination links

  • If you set an “Append” on a creative level, it overrides whatever “Append” that was set on the Offer or Brand level. If you leave an “Append” blank on creative level, the destination link will utilize the “Append” from the next level up in the hierarchy (ie. Offer Default Link, or Brand Default link if offer level is not specified).

  • “Append” links work INDEPENDENTLY of “Destination Links”. You can set an “Append” on any level while leaving the “Destination Link” blank (or vice versa).
